2005 Grenache Le Petit Sommelier French Table Red Sanguedoc Roussillon - France Price: $6.99 Rating: 4 A Good Buy At This Price Since we were entertaining some friends with smoked beef and smoked salmon, we were looking for both a red and a white wine that would go well with barbequed food. This wine fit the bill with the beef. For the salmon, the Antica Corte Garganega/Pinot Grigio (reviewed separately) did the trick. Le Petit Sommelier is a full bodied, fruity, dry red wine, with a taste of charcoal. Charcoal might not sound appetizing, but if youre drinking it with food cooked over charcoal, or wood, or on a grill, it works just fine. This is an inexpensive red wine from France with a big taste. We would not necessarily recommend it if the price was in the teens, but for under $7, this is a good buy. Thus this wine gets a 4, a good buy at this price.
