2005 Shiraz, Pinotage, & Mourvθdre Blend Goats Do Roam - Red Paarl - South Africa Price: $7.99 Rating: 4 A Good Buy At This Price Basically VinoMan and the Wine Addict have very similar tastes in wines, especially red wines, especially big, full bodied, tannic, hearty red wines, which is why this South African red wine is an enigma. I liked it far better than the VMan. This wine was ruby red in color. It had nice aromas of mixed fruit, especially cherry. On this we both agree. But here is where we separated; I thought it was a good wine to have with spicy foods, particularly blackened Cajun cuisine or a good steak. The VMan felt it was too fruity, that the cherry was very dominant, thus making it a more difficult match to the spicy foods I preferred. We had it with a mildly spicy chicken dish and both agreed this Goats Do Roam was too heavy and not a good match. We both concurred, this was a nice wine, one wed buy again, but not at our review limit of $20 and not at $15, but at $10 wed consider it, and at $7.99 we would definitely buy it again. So, given that we always evaluate the wines based upon the price we paid, this wine gets a 4 good buy at this price (but no more).
