Germany is home to the most northern wine growing region in the world and produces arguably the world's best white wines with Riesling the clear winner. The major wine growing regions in Germany are the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Rheinhessen, Rhiengau and Pfalz regions.
German Wine is broken down into three levels of quality:
German Wines with the QmP designation are labeled with one of the following descriptions which range from least sweet to sweetest; Kabinett, Spatlese, Auslese, Beerenausslese, Eiswein (grapes are frozen on the vine to intensify the sugar and acidity) and Trockenbeerenauslese.
