About Wine Addict (WA):

I developed my love of wine late in life and began to study different wines on my own.  It took a long time for me to understand the terminology used by the experts when they described wine.  I bought and read numerous books, and tasted many of the wines they reviewed and compared my tastes with theirs.  That’s when I began to look for, but never found, a reviewer I felt spoke directly to me; someone who could describe a wine so I could easily identify with the taste; someone that gave me practical advice, not “winespeak”.

When I discovered a wine I liked and tried to describe it to my friends in expert terms, the same thing would happen to them: their eyes would glaze over because they didn’t understand what I was talking about.  I soon began to discover that I was able to explain wine in my terms, and when I did, others began to understand as well.  Over the years many people suggested that I develop a website to do what I did best, talk plain talk about wine.  Hopefully you’ll enjoy this site as well.

About VinoMan (VMan):

Being Wine Addict’s son, I’m obviously younger than he is.  More recently out of college, my tastes were defined by the lowest price beer money could buy.  But like Wine Addict, I was bitten by the wine bug.  Thus began our mutual journey into the world of food and wine.  We went to many wine tastings, and on many cool summer nights we sat out on the deck and discussed what we liked about this red wine, or what food paired well with that white wine.  Inevitably, and independently, I started looking for a “plainspeak” wine site.  The genesis of WineForEveryone came about when I mentioned to Wine Addict about not being able to find such a site.  Since he was going through the same unsuccessful search, it was then that we decided we’d create it ourselves.

About Mrs. Wine Addict:

Mr. WA and I have been married forever, way before he knew a Burgundy from a Riesling.  I’m pretty typical for my age and gender, always trying to watch my weight and trying to get us as much face time with our children as possible.  So like most Moms, I cook the meals that go with all of those wines we review.  From time to time I’ll write some articles about wine pairing, give you some recipes (maybe even some low fat ones), or just tell you about a meal I made to go with a particular wine. The extent of my wine knowledge is that I know to say yes when Mr. WA says “Would you like a glass?  I know you will like this one”.  I hope you will enjoy visiting this site as much as my family has enjoyed creating it and that you’ll visit us at our on-line home often. Don’t be a stranger.

About This Site:

So we decided to start this site, and try to build a comfort zone for people who wanted to try wine.  More likely they did try a wine, but because of limited knowledge, they inevitably bought the wine based upon price.  And because you usually get what you pay for unless you have a good idea of what you’re doing, had a bad experience with the wine.  Or just as likely, selected a good wine, but mismatched it with food… again reinforcing the notion that they didn’t like wine.

We want to develop a wine “likers” community; a safe place to come and visit, to learn the important things about wine, the NEED TO KNOW, not the NICE TO KNOW about wines (OK, sometimes we’ll throw in a “NICE TO KNOW” tidbit of information).  So please stay with us, join us in a truly fun journey into the wonderful world of wines: Red Wine, White Wine, Burgundy, Blush Wine, Riesling, Cabernets, Pinots, Blancs, and all the rest will be strangers no more.
